Staff in the SAIT's School of Hospitality and Tourism visited Brenda's House, an emergency shelter for families currently experiencing homelessness, to see how they could help. They discovered the kitchen lacked some cooking tools and a store room needed shelving and organization, so they set to work. They purchased and delivered a Cuisinart mixer, microwave, toaster, industrial can opener, various cook books and other kitchen gadgets to a very grateful cook. Later, students from the Hospitality Management student club, TIED IN, and staff purchased and assembled some much needed storage shelving and organized the linen and diaper areas. The TIED In club plans to make this an annual project.
